In the spring I visited New York City and spent a few days causing mayhem in Soho.
To my delight I discovered the Yayoi Kusama installation at the neighborhood Louis Vuitton store as I stumbled around the cobblestone streets of the Meatpacking District.
The entire boutique was transformed into an immersive experience; floor to ceiling yellow with black polka dots. It was positively dizzying.
While the ethics of the collaboration remains to be seen, as does the gentrification of New York’s trans sex worker mecca, I took comfort and pride in this aesthetic rumination.
